At the very end of the Baja California peninsula, its shores washed by the blue Pacific, lies Los Cabos, whose matchless climate boasts some 300 days of sunshine a year. Its famous landmark is El Arco de Roca, a dramatic rock formation at the tip of the peninsula, where seals and sea lions bask in the sun, and where visitors can enjoy exciting whale-watching in winter.
Beautiful beaches line the coast between the two towns of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, where tourism has now replaced fishing as the main activity. Home still of a renowned fishing fleet and with a superb marina, Cabo San Lucas, no more than a village 30 years ago, is today an attractive town with a wealth of first-class hotels, restaurants and shops, while the peninsula offers world-class golf, fishing and other sports. |
